Welcome to the Lodge in the Hollow

The Lodge In The Hollow 1920
Welcome to my new blog.  Written right here in The Lodge.  Today is an overcast humid sticky day that is expected to get up to the lower 90's.  I went outside only to decide that staying inside will be my choice for the day.  We have been busy this summer doing various projects here at The Lodge, and we have also been on a number of "Day Trips".  Today I will stay in and get some work done, including starting this blog.

The Lodge was built in 1920 as a hunting lodge.  It was made from chestnut trees that were killed in the chestnut blight of 1920 in Pennsylvania and throughout the region.  More of the Chestnut Blight Log Cabins can be found nearby and including in the Michaux State Forest area.
We have lived in this cabin since June of 2006. I named it The Lodge, after the lodge at the campgrounds of Lake Arrowhead in Michigan where I used to go as a child.  That lodge has since burned down, so in my mind this one is taking it's place.

The area is called Three Square Hollow hence the name of my new blog, The Lodge in The Hollow!
